200 MassVOTE supporters so far have sent messages to Beacon Hill asking for better election laws in 2012. The messages are working. We've started to hear chatter about these bills in the State House. So how do we turn this chatter into action? We keep asking. The more people, the better.

MassVOTE has set a goal to increase turnout by 5% over 2008. That's 150,000 new voters. We are going to be spending a lot of time this year working with allies to register, educate, and turnout voters... but to really get everyone registered and voting, we need to modernize our election laws.

Online registration. We're living in the 21st century! It's time to let citizens register online.
Pre-registration. When young people are registered, they vote. So how can we get more young people registered? By letting them register when they're 16 and 17 so they're set the day they turn 18.
Election Audits. You deserve to know your vote was counted right, so a a simple safety measure and precaution we should randomly audit a few precincts each election.
Election Day Registration. No eligible citizen should be denied the right to vote. Election Day Registration is a time-tested failsafe that ensures every eligible citizen can always vote.
