MassVOTE

Dear Friend,

The day has finally come -- the new State House and State Senate districts have been unveiled.  Overall, MassVOTE is very pleased with the proposed maps.  The maps include a new minority-majority state senate district in Springfield, increasing the number of minority-majoirty senate districts from 2 to 3 (the other two districts are in the Boston area).  In the state house, minority-majority districts will double, from 10 to 20.  New majority-minority seats have been crafted in Lynn, Lawrence, Holyoke, Springfield, Lowell, Brockton, Worcester and Boston.

These maps are a major victory - the Special Joint Committee on Redistricting heard the calls of people like you who demanded that new district lines reflect Massachusetts' diversity.  But the maps are not final yet. Details matter.  And no one can decide for you whether your new state house and state senate district lines make sense.

You can find the maps here.  Tell the legislature what you think of their proposals.  At the top of the page you will see the link to submit your comments.

Thank you,
